Below is the Super Bowl 'Need for Speed' trailer with the cameras/lenses used superimposed by DP Shane Hurlbut.
You can read more about Shane's camera choices at his blog but here's the basic reasoning he used as he has explained it in several posts/videos:
Alexa for day shots because he likes the dynamic range better and feels that sensor holds highlights, like clouds on a sunny day, better than the Canon C500.
Canon C500 for low light and when skin tones were important as its sensor holds values better at higher ISO and/or, even if you're not shooting at high ISO, has better detail retention and color saturation in shadow areas (and stuff like car dash instruments) especially when shooting at night.
Canon 1DC for cramped shots like car interiors, and as a hood/bumper cam.
GoPro -- I never heard him say why, but the shots that camera (which costs around $300) was used in look like one-way rides.
