I don't connect with the new trailer for 'Hector and the Search for Happiness' and that's frustrating. I should like it. It's got all the right ingredients -- a solid comedic lead in Simon Pegg, it's based on a bestselling novel by François Lelord. It even has a superlong runtime of 120 minutes, which must be designed to bludgeon the average audience into thinking they're watching something of considerable weight and importance (though, why that would be necessary for a comedy is beyond me). And, the movie is about a guy, whose life is getting him down, who decides to go off to distant places in order to find fulfillment.
All just like 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' (which, in fairness, only ran 114 minutes). Exactly, precisely like it. Very few people turned out for that one.
Trailers for 'Search for Happiness' are more fun than the ones for 'Mitty' ever were, I'll give it that much.
