Poster For 'Cooties' -- Simple, Effective, Almost A Classic

Even the title comes right to the point: 'Cooties'. Ew, ick. Got it.

This poster has the clean lines I think you need for horror, or horror-comedy for that matter. The graphic simplicity reminds me of the brilliant poster for 'Rosemary's Baby'.

Another all-time great horror movie poster that keeps it very simple: 'Alien'

I never noticed, even after all these years, that the image is like what you'd see on an (older) video monitor. Like you're viewing the alien egg in space as it's shot by a video camera. Nice touch. I don't know why but it works. Creepy somehow.

So, serious horror movies have simple posters. But, what about fright flicks that skew comedic like 'Cooties'. It's hard to mention the graphic for 'Rosemary's Baby' (1968) without thinking of the copycat poster for 'It's Alive' (1974). But, you have to admit, it works (this poster actually frightened kids back then) and it's...simple.

How about 'The Evil Dead' (the ones directed by Sam Raimi) -- scary, funny, and more classic a poster you won't find and, yes, it's not a complicated image.

One of my favorites, for 'Evil Dead 2'. Hard to beat.

Really, if I saw this poster for the first time (for a new movie) I'd go see it, just knowing, absolutely sure that it would be a fun time. And, that's how I feel looking at the poster for 'Cooties'. This movie is probably well done, will offer something original, and be worth a couple hours at the theater.
