New trailer for 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' makes me feel like I'm being buttered up to buy a used car. Too much sizzle -- not that you could put together an edit that wasn't all flash, I suppose.
Not sure if anyone will want to sit through this, especially with a runtime of 120 minutes. But, the first one did do pretty good, so...

Seems Like Publicity...
Eva Green, in an interview with Vanity Fair, said of the recent ban by the MPAA of her poster for 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For', "I find it a bit odd. It seems like it’s all just publicity—a lot of noise for nothing."
And every movie blog will carry the quote and display the poster -- again. PR on this level would cost a mint. Something the boys at TWC are well aware of.
In case you've been away, here's the poster, which I'm posting only in the interest of keeping up with the news, not as publicity for 'Sin City'.

Eva Green, We Can Totally See Your Breasts -- Thank God For The MPAA
According to the MPAA, Eva Green's new character poster for 'Sin City' can't be used to market the movie because you can see the shape of her breasts.
Looking closely I notice you can also see the shape of her arm, including the pit area. Also, the crook of the elbow is clearly visible. So, yeah, I can see what the MPAA is in a huff about. Wouldn't want anything like that on the internet.
So, do not think of seeing 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' when looking at the poster below. If this poster makes you want to see the movie, you will be in violation of MPAA guidelines -- it will be especially bad. If, on the other hand, this poster makes you want to do something else, the MPAA probably won't have a problem with that.

Same Footage, Just Less Of It
I don't know why they released this. Just as a reminder? It's a shorter cut of the other trailer. Exactly the same footage, just less of it.
Right now I'd give 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' a rating of wouldn't-see-it-if-you-paid-me, or kicking-and-screaming...maybe.

When Style Is The Substance
Is noir worth revisiting decades after it went out of fashion? Watching this I'd have to say yes but with reservations. I doubt this story will have a spine, but what difference would that make. This is a movie you could watch with the sound off and it would still be just as good and, whether that's a good or bad thing has yet to be determined.
The people who will turn out for this already know who they are and, really, didn't need to see a trailer to be persuaded. The rest have little to think about. If ultra-noir lighting, growly icy dialogue, sharp camera angles, squinting tough guys chewing on smoke, and people getting beat up and/or killed in a wild variety of ways doesn't appeal to you it's simple -- don't go see the movie because, barring a screenplay miracle, that's about all you can expect here.
That being said, this flick looks to be eye candy of the highest order. 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' isn't style over substance, it's style as substance, and that has to be worked into the equation before you buy a ticket.
In the meantime, I'm waiting for that screenplay miracle.
